I'm Emily marie
A Vancouver Island photographer with a heart for connection and beautiful landscapes. I love to surf, write, hike and spend time with my people. My fiancé and I live in Nanaimo with our dog (Diego) and our cat (Bob) and love to adventure as often as we can (but also love a cozy movie night on the couch).
I’ve always felt a special pull to capture the world around me. I remember stealing my parent’s Olympus camera or my brother’s handycam when I was a kid and taking photos and videos of literally everything (definitely overkill).
My love of photography truly began, though, when I first started solo travelling. I was in awe of all the amazing places I saw and I wanted my friends and family to experience the world too, through my eyes. I began investing all of my free time into learning about the art of photography and not only what makes a good photo, but how a truly good photo is more than just aesthetic, it's about how it makes you feel. Some of my favourite photos I've ever taken aren't the highest quality, they're the ones that hold the most valuable memories and the most emotion.

My philosophy
I want photography to feel fun and inclusive. Personally, I'm still pretty shy behind the camera, so I totally get people when they tell me they're "so awkward." It can be nerve-wracking to have our photo taken because we're not sure how they will come out, or how we'll feel about the way we look in them. But I want to create a playful and warm atmosphere so that you can be yourself, enjoy your time spent with your loved one, and have it captured in a way that feels effortless. Because the more comfortable you are, the more you'll love your photos!
